Mildred Ladyman began serious photography about fifteen years ago.
She specializes in nature photography, including birds, animals, flowers
(including soft focus and abstracts), insects and scenics. Her photography
trips with her husband, Leon, have included travel in a motor-home throughout
the entirety of North America from Prudhoe Bay to Panama. Other destinations
have included Virgin Islands, Kenya, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago,
Ecuador and a three-month motor-home trip throughout Australia.

The past few years Mildred
has focused on birds in general, and hummingbirds in particular. Her slide
presentation, Flying Jewels, with fifty-three different species
of hummingbirds, was featured at the annual Hummer/Bird Celebration at
Rockport, Texas. She has given presentations to a variety of groups, including
the National Audubon Society in the United States and Panama, photography
clubs, and civic, nature and educational groups in Costa Rica, Mexico and
Canada, as well as the United States.
Mildred has won top awards in
numerous contests. Publishing credits include Wildbird Magazine, The Hummingbird
Connection, The Dallas Morning News, textbooks, children’s books, nature
books, video labels and travel brochures for Cabanas San Isidro in Ecuador.
